Journal to be used: Grassy_Astoria
IN CHARACTER
Name: Astoria Greengrass
Age/Birthday: 7th of October 1982
Affiliation: As a member of a traditional pureblood family she thinks that pureblood supremacy is a good idea. Though while she approves of the Death Eaters' aims, she is uncertain whether it is worth the violence that they participate in.
House/Year: 4th Year Ravenclaw
Occupation: Student. She has always looked up to her father and, after his death it was no different. Thus she wants to become an Unspeakable so she can further her knowledge on magic in general and secretly find out how her father truly died.
Blood Status: Pureblood
Marital Status: Single
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance:
Astoria is still young, only 14, but she is rather pretty. One word that would describe her in a nutshell would be small, a fact that frustrates her. She is rather short with small facial features. A small round face, rather thin lips and a little nose. Though she does have rather large blue eyes.
She has blonde hair that more often than not she wears out and hangs wavy with little thought. She handles her clothes similarly, often wearing robes in a variety of colours, her favourite being blue.
Desired PB: Anna Maria Mühe= http://asylums.insanejournal.com/eronn_r
Second choice maybe Ellary Porterfield=
http://apocalyptically.insanejournal.com/9
Personality:
Astoria has always been an inquisitive person - as a child she pestered her parents with questions about how everything worked. As she grew this did not change. Before her father died he could always give her the answers. She wanted to be just like him and thus always sought knowledge.
However, when her father died she realized she did not have that person who could answer all her questions. Instead she was forced to find her answers by herself and she found it was a way to entertain herself as well as to escape her grief.
For a while after the death she often found herself alone and had no need for social interaction, often leading her to be cool and uncaring to most people. However, as true friends do, many stuck by her. They taught her the value of true friendship and for that she is eternally grateful. As such to those she is close and comfortable with she is extremely loyal and affectionate and is always up for a witty joke.
As the years have gone by she has come out of her shell a little, especially with her close friends and family, but to the outside world she is still the quite girl in the corner.

History:
Astoria grew up the youngest of her family of four with her mother, father and sister Daphne. They were all pretty close, often they would go out together to see the latest Quidditch match or have a simple picnic. Her father had always been an inquisitive and intelligent man and worked in the Department of Mysteries. Astoria always wished to know what he did but it was always kept quiet. It was probably why she became so interested in magical theory or maybe it was because she wanted to be like her father.
Her sister and her were also close. As young girls they would constantly play together and were basically the best of friends.
At age 11 she went to Hogwarts as was expected and she loved it from the beginning. The beautiful old castle, the magic in the air, the lessons, it was all amazing. Unlike her sister she was not sorted into Slytherin but into Ravenclaw, to her sister's slight surprise, after all, she wanted her sister with her. But Astoria was not surprised even though in some ways she is a little ambitious; her thirst for knowledge has always surpassed any other trait. She made a few close friends and all seemed all to be going well.
But life it rarely ever stays that way. On the winter of her second year her mother and sister were waiting around for their father at dinner, he was a little late, but with his job such things can happen that way. Until, of course, an owl came through the window. She remembered her mother’s face that night; the shock that was written on her face and the little squeal she made. She tried to put on a brave face, but they both new there was something wrong. She took them to their grandparent’s house and quickly dashed off to St Mungos telling the girls everything would be fine, their father had just had a little accident at work.
Yet it was far from a little accident. That night he died, destroying the family’s world. Her mother was distraught but she tried to put on a face for the girls. Daphne became closer to her mother but Astoria was in shock. She could not comprehend it, often both sisters would fall asleep in their mother's bed all three hugging and crying themselves to sleep.
As the months passed she found her own way to grieve. She kept to herself and read. She was determined to learn more about everything, hoping to distract herself and subconsciously find out what happened to her father. His job as an unspeakable was always secret, not even her mother was told exactly how her father died. It affected her relationship with her friends too. When she went back to Hogwarts they were not her priority, she became cod and aloof to most people and did not bother socializing. However not all left her, some understood what she was going through. They comforted her and she was immensely grateful. As time went on she has began to understand how much they mean to her and how thankful she is to them
Three random facts:
1-She loves the fact that she is not a Slytherin. She cares for her sister dearly but she is glad that she could make her own identity for herself in another house
2-She hates Quiditch. She does not like relying on something like a broom as she feels she does not have enough control over it.
3-She admires Dumbledore even though she thinks he can be a little mad at times she admires how intelligent he is
SAMPLES
First Person:
Journal Entry
I am not sure what to believe. I have been hearing some very odd rumours lately. According to the gossip mill (provided to me by Daphne who apparently heard it from Pansy who heard it from Draco), which is probably not very reliable, but still they are interesting. Apparently people have been appearing from the past. Completely ridiculous I know. I have checked quite a few books to set if there is any precedence for such actions.
But then again the rumours do relate to Harry Potter’s trip to the Department of Mysteries. Who knows what happens in there? I am certainly curious. Actually it is extremely fascinating, but that is beside the point. Stranger things have happened.
As well I may be a little naïve but I can not help but wonder, what if it were true? Who could come back? Could father? Now I know I am being ridiculous; that could never happen. It is completely against all laws of magic.
Though I do wish.
Third Person:
It is a beautiful English morning. The sun is shining high in the air and the wind lightly ruffles the tops of the trees. Underneath one of the trees leaning on the thick trunk sits a girl. Her blonde hair sits behind her back and her large eyes are focusing on the book in front of her. Its ancient spine is large and imposing, though slightly aged. Finishing the page she turns it over, not paying attention to the beautiful environment.
The serenity is broken by a pair of voices wafting down to her. Looking up she sees the visitors and she sighs with frustration as she examines the pair her sister, Daphne and Pansy. It is not as if she dislikes her sister, in fact when it is just the two of them they are very close like two pees in a pod. The issue is that she is not alone.
Her blue eyes focus on the black haired girl watching as they both descend the house's steps and onto the grass. Remaining where she is she hopes they do not come towards her. She is not in the mood to be social, in fact she rarely is but that is beside the point. Every time she had seen Pansy she had always come over to her tried to act nice, give her that smile. But you really knew that the smile was more dangerous than any kind of snarl could ever be. Completely patronizing. Just the type of girl Astoria wants to avoid.
So she stays there, continuing her flicking through her book, in a way that Pansy would know doubt see as ‘nerdy’ minding her own business. The minutes pass and the two giggling voices get louder, but still they do not approach her. Peeking her eyes over her book she spies them Pansy with her back to her and her sister facing her way. Catching her sister’s eye she smiles at her slightly which is returned. A knowing look in her eye she watches as her sister gently grasps Pansy’s shoulder and gestures her in the direction of the other side of the yard. Grinning at her sister she mouths a silent thank you and watches as they go off in the other direction. Leaving her with peace, just the way she likes it.
